Condescendingly referred to as "a celebrated Lady Artist of the present time," Wright's work is now receiving the respect it is due with the recent bequest of a portrait of a well-known suffragette, Dame Christabel Pankhurst, to the National Portrait Gallery of London. In addition to her thoughtful portraits of society women, Wright was also a successful illustrator and known for her paintings of pierrot.
