The Estate Collection of Dr. & Mrs. R. Lewis Wright, Richmond, VA

Mrs. Margaret Dashiell owned and operated "Serendipity Shop," a "quaint" bookshop out of her home in Richmond. She specialized in subjects pertaining to the South, Virginia and Louisiana in particular. In 2006, a city wide exhibition of her watercolors, drawings, and writings were on view at three venues in Richmond, "Street Opera: Reconsidering the Art and Writing of Margaret May Dashiell." Her papers are housed at UNC-Chapel Hill's Southern Historical Collection. (See "Richmond Woman Conducting Quaint Book-Shop," The Publisher's Weekly, January 5, 1918, for a contemporary description of Mrs. Dashiell's shop, along with a photograph of its interior.)
