Russian Icon of Three-Handed Mother of God

19th century, polychrome on slightly convex wooden panel, gallery plate on the back. Mary reputedly repaired the amputation of St. John of Damascus's hand during the early 8th century. As a result, she is sometimes portrayed as a miracle worker with a third hand.
