Circa 1863, Union issue of the Civil War. A .58 caliber Remington M1863 contract, percussion, rifled musket, better known as a Zouave. Initials "HDJ" on butt stock are likely the inspectorÕs cartouche. 12,500 of these muskets were made between 1862 and 1865.
