Worked in silk, chenille, and watercolor on silk; image based on Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's 1774 publication of "The Sufferings of Young Werther" depicting a woman, Charlotte, holding a spray of flowers mourning at an urn topped memorial to Werter, whose unrequited love for her became a popular theme in needlework and miniatures; her face is delicately painted; trees worked in chenille in background; housed in oval frame with verre eglomise frame with the maker's name and home in gilt, "Marg. Baugh / Llanymynech (Montgomery, Wales). Research shows the maker was born 2/25/1783 in Llanymynech to Robert Baugh and Catherine Edwards and married Richard Owen of Cornwall, England in December 1805.

Very minor shattering of silk, soe touch up to eglomise frame.
