Watercolor on paper, signed and dated "H. Sutton Paler. 1873.," lower right, a Near Eastern market scene, presented behind mat in gilt wooden frame. This painting was executed very early in Palmer's career. Primarily known for his English landscapes, Palmer also recorded scenes in Jerusalem and, much later, in the San Francisco Bay area.
