Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Circa 1920s, painted wood and metal construction, built with meticulous attention to detail throughout from the hull's rivets to the canvas lifeboat covers. Bow to stern: 63 in.; beam: 6.25 in. The model is displayed on a custom wooden stand with a brass nameplate, the whole under plexiglass hood, overall 17 x 72.5 in. The U.S.S. Preston, built by Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corp. of San Francisco, was commissioned on April 13, 1921 and decommissioned on May 1, 1930. Her service was primarily with the Atlantic Fleet Destroyer Force.

A somewhat crude 1 in. repair to the port side of the hull near the stern portholes; pleasing old surfaces with browning to the lifeboat canvas and crazing to the bow's numbers.
