Born in Virginia, Richards studied at UNC-Wilmington and SUNY Empire State College. He returned to NC in 2006 and exhibits extensively throughout the southeast. His work was recently included in an exhibit at the North Carolina Museum of Art titled "Word Up: The Intersection of Text and Image" (July 22, 2012 - January 20, 2013).
