Estate of the late Dr. Stewart Penfold Blake of Palo Alto, CA and Charlotte, NC Stewart Penfold Blake (Col. USArmy Ret.) was a proud soldier, superb story-teller, lover of music from Mozart to Benny Goodman, gracious host, wine connoisseur and knowledgeable art lover. Among his many proud accomplishments were his design of the test track for Porsche in Stuttgart, Germany and his design for carrying Venezuelan oil from the fields to the sea. His estate represents his life in appreciation of history and diverse cultures.

Born in Denver, Colorado, Jessalee Sickman studied art at the University of Colorado, Goucher College, and the Corcoran School of Art. She went on to teach at the Corcoran and exhibited extensively throughout Washington, D.C. A typed note affixed to this painting indicates it was exhibited in the 1947 Corcoran Biennial and remained hung in the school's contemporary room until 1950.
