Late 18th century, att. to Sharrock Group, yellow pine with original blue painted surface, the cove molded cornice over dentil molding above two doors each with eight lights having molded mullions, blind lower lights, waist molding over single lipped drawer over two paneled doors, appropriate replaced bracket foot base.

Purchased by the consignor from Eugene Underhill of Franklin County, NC. The cupboard was made for "The original Underhill House" built eastern Franklin County during the latter half of the 18th century. Private Collection, Franklin County, NC

John Bivens states in his definitive work, THE FURNITURE OF COASTAL NORTH CAROLINA: 1700-1820, "Characteristic of the Roanoke River basin style is the conservative nature of all the Sharrock furniture, which nevertheless manages to impart an air of simple elegance." Area of loss to cornice; dirty dish boards replaced; some re-glazing; lower lock with break out and replacement; later "H" hinges; replaced bracket foot base. The cupboard had several coats of white paint which were professionally removed to reveal the original blue milk paint by Mr. Joe Wilkerson.
