Early 19th century, styled after ancient Roman cameos, these confronting profiles of the French emperor and his empress are finely carved in high relief with silver paint highlights, secured in gilt brass mounts and housed in a velvet lined wooden presentation case sheathed in tooled calfskin. Both ivory discs are 2 7/8 in. diameter; the case is 2 x 7.5 x 4.25 in.
