This painting, though rare today, was but one of several copies sold in the United States before its entry into WWI. Heritage Auctions of Dallas, Texas recently handled an example retaining a German language label for the Deviln Art Society of Chicago. The back of our canvas shows the faint outline of a once-present Devlin label.
