Italian Renaissance, circa 17th century, probably Sicilian, walnut, pierced and carved with polychrome decoration, having a cartouche shaped pierced back with central ogre mask carving, flanked by hermaphroditic mermen, rectangular seat with canted corner and circular relief carved dish seat, front panel pierced seat support with central relief carved rampant lion flanked by mermaids, supported by central ogre mask and paw feet, the shaped rear support without panel.
