Including a pair of abstracts, oil pastel on paper, both signed and dated in pencil at lower right "F. Van Court '33" (SS 9.75 x 7.5 in.; DOA 18.25 x 16 in.); the third a mixed media on paper, monogrammed and dated "V. C. '34" at upper right (SS 9.75 x 7.5 in.; DOA 18.25 x 16 in.). All three in matching mats and silver tone frames.

Franklin Van Court was born in Chicago and studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He continued his studies at the National Academy of Design in New York and with several other prominent artists, including Charles W. Hawthorn, Frederick Grant, Robert Henri, and Anthony Angarola. He exhibited throughout the US and these three works are accompanied by an archive of letters from exhibition venues including California Palace of the Legion of Honor, Kroch's Bookstores, Inc. in Chicago, the Union League Club of Chicago, the Ann Arbor Art Association, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
