Late 19th - early 20th century, to include: Spear with socketed brass point and similar base, leather and hide embellishments on the staff, a conforming leather sheath covers the blade (52.75 in.)(finish chips to leather elements; spear tip brass cleaned whereas the base has a natural age patina); ebonized wooden figural staff, with pointed iron base, surmounted with a carved janiform head (59.5 in.)(chips and wear); curved short sword with leather grip and scabbard (27 in.) (rust to blade; leather shrinkage inhibits free movement in and out of scabbard).

These items were collected in the early 1920s by an American missionary teaching English in Monrovia, Liberia.
