Oil on canvas (lined), unsigned, the sitters' dress typical of fashion from the 1830s, both three quarter length portraits; the gentleman shown seated, holding cheroot and with a colorful woven blanket and a mountainous landscape beyond; the lady shown seated, holding a fan and handkerchief, view of a bustling port beyond; each presented in period appropriate French style gilt frames. A typed label on the verso of the lady reads "Francesca Sauri de Villoc.."

SS 29.25 x 24.25 in.; DOA 35 x 30 in.

Possibly depicting Don Pedro Villoch and his wife, Francisca Sauri. He was the founder of La Hacienda Buena Vista (El Penon) on the Barrio Playa in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico.

Both paintings have been lined; each painting with scattered re-touch and later varnish - see photographs taken under black light for details; each frame with some loss to composition ornament.
