Hudson's Bay Company Coin Silver Trade Cross

Early 19th century, no hallmarks, the center is stamped "HBC" and an "HB" is placed on each of the four arms, the top is pierced for suspension. Coin silver ornaments, especially crosses, were a popular medium of exchange during the heyday of Canada's fur industry. Hudson's Bay Company claims to have distributed its own silver between 1796 and 1821.
