30-hour oak longcase signed Joseph Gatward /Seven Oaks (Kent, England) circa 1780s, weight driven movement with nicely engraved brass dial. Joseph Gatward is known to have worked in London and it appears that he moved to Sevenoaks, Kent in 1771. The oak case has a classic flat top with molded waist door, interior paper notes the movement is driven by "a Huygens Endless Rope".
