Water color on ivory of an unidentified youthful gentleman; card en verso is pencil inscribed what appears to read, "Belongs to Julius E. Bango, January 6th" with year possibly being 1811. Research shows a J.C. Bango in the Confederate roster for Holcombe's Legion, Comapny H. Paper behind portrait cut from "The Southern Quarterly Review" with partial date 185(?). This journal was published in New Orleans Charleston, Baltimore and Columbia (SC). Housed in likely original painted and molded frame with foliate gold toned surround.
