19th century, depicting a cherub helping a maiden unwind thread in a bucolic setting. Back retains old paper label hand written in ink "Le fil rompu" (The worn-out thread) and the artist "F. von Aubert." Housed in a gilt wood frame with applied egg and dart liner.
