[John Lupton of Altrincham, Cheshire circa 1725-1765.] the slim mahogany case with oak secondary is set off by a shaped waist door flanked by fluted quarter columns, raised on low bracket feet. The hood, with three brass finials, (outside ones bearing spires and the center with eagle), carries a band of pierced fretwork above the arch and painted frieze. The dial is brass and has a silvered chapter ring alternating Roman numerals with fleur d' lis, featuring a second hand, date aperture, time and strike wind, and cast scrolled spandrels. Signed on the lower edge "John Lupton". A silvered medallion over the face appears to be inscribed "Jona Beake /Crutched Fryars London".

With pendulum and two weights; later seat board; missing back left half column; repaired crack to back; date aperture ring appears to be out of position; some veneer cracks and lifts; suspension wires for weights need to be replaced.
