The label reading "Fabbricante di Strumenti da corda / NAPOLI / 35, Strada Formale, 35 / 1899," mother-of-pearl inlays on the pickguard, around the sound hole and in the top binding, which incorporates alternating strips of tortoise shell; rosewood veneer neck, spruce top, lighter rosewood back with string inlay; tuners are inset into a nickel panel affixed to the headstock.

Salsedo was one of Italy's premiere mandolin luthiers during the late 19th century.

A few light scuffs and small dings consistent with age and normal use. There has also been shrinkage to the fingerboard resulting in exposed fret ends. The tuners are tight and will require attention to work properly.
