Matched Indian Tulwar Sword and Katar Knife
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Probably early 19th century, both weapons having blue and red enamel decoration on those elements above the blades, which rest in a velvet-covered scabbard and sheath respectively. The tulwar's scabbard drag also features enamel decoration. The tulwar has a 34 in. blade stamped with a line of Indian calligraphy below the ricasso and is 39 in. LOA. The katar's blade,10 in., has a line of etched calligraphy. This knife is 18.25 LOA.

The velvet on the katar's sheath is likely replaced; peripheral fabric loss to the tulwar's scabbard; chipping to red enamel on the quillons; overall very fine condition.
