English Porcelain Partial Tea Service

First half 19th century, probably Coalport, having a lemon border within gilt scrolls over rust ground highlighted with gilt lines over a white base. The body of the teapot and sugar is accentuated with a high scalloped rim and conforming collar, lavishly embellished with gilt decoration; with acorn finials above relief oak leaves. The set consists of a lidded teapot (8.5 in.); a covered sugar (7 in.); a creamer (5.5 in.); a cake plate (10 in.); (12) cups (3 in.); (12) saucers (5 7/8 in.). Bottoms marked in rust enamel "2/3901". Total (16) pieces.

Tight hairline to spout; sugar with molding defect to side; some gilt loss especially to rims of cups and saucers; (30) saucers with minor rim frits; one cup with repair to handle.
