The first titled "The Singer," a monotype with ink on laid paper, signed in pencil at lower right "Jose de Creeft." and dated in ink "1949," inscribed on the verso "JDC#379J 'The Singer' Monotype and Ink 1949" (9 1/2 x 12.5 in.); the second also a monotype with ink on paper, signed and dated at lower right "Jose de Creeft" and inscribed by the artist's wife "To Irene / Happy Birthday / Love, Lorrie 8/8/94," framed under glass (DOA 13 x 48.5 in.), not examined out of the frame.

Jose de Creeft, originally from Spain and artistically trained in France, found his way to the United States to continue his studies. Primarily settled in New York, he also studied at the famous Black Mountain College in western North Carolina.
