Mahogany and mahogany veneers, brass face plate with plaque engraved "Alex Mitchel Gordals Glasgow," the plaque flanked by relief dolphins, with second hand and date dial, broken arch pediment to the bonnet which features carved thistles, supported by stop fluted fully turned columns, shaped waist door with cross banded inlay, the case raised on later bracket foot base. With pendulum, key, face hands and weights.

Alexander Mitchell was a member of a prominent Glasgow clock making family, active circa 1790 to 1833.
