Oil on artist board, signed lower right "H. Campbell," depicting a young girl walking home on a tree lined street in Mount Holly, NJ; the young girl in the painting is the daughter of the consignor, who bought the painting directly from the artist; Hugh Campbell was a self-taught artist who lived an austere life in a tar paper shack on the banks of the Rancocas. He became a regular at the Rittenhouse Square Annual Clothesline exhibit in Philadelphia. In 1953, he was awarded honorary membership in the Art League of Philadelphia "in recognition of art work done with outstanding distinction." Housed in original painted gilt frame with label from Community Paint & Wallpaper Co., Burlington, Trenton, Mount Holly.
