Lot Details & Additional Photographs
A pencil on stationery scene by Private George A. Wilson, Co. "G," 17th Massachusetts Volunteers, depicting two pipe-smoking soldiers in their tent, likely in the New Bern, NC area given their regiment's history. This drawing "damns" politics, roundly cursing both Abolitionists and Copperheads. Included is an early war envelope addressed to Wilson in camp while en route to the Southern seat of war. Presented in a gold-tone frame with a fabric liner.
