Likely New Bern, NC, by Private George A. Wilson, Co. "G," 17th Massachusetts Volunteers, pencil on lined octavo stationery, its caption reads " our quarters...the old ones for 7 men," shown is a small house with an outdoor brick oven attached to its chimney. Professionally matted in gold-toned wooden frame, an empty early 20th century envelope from Boston is affixed to the frame's backing and is inscribed "G A Wilson's Drawings & Confederate Money." George Wilson was a 27 year-old shoemaker when, in 1861, he enlisted for three years. He mustered out right on schedule in 1864.
