Rare NC Chippendale Sulfur Inlaid Blanket Chest

Late 18th century, walnut, yellow pine and poplar secondary, having a top with molded edge, interior with left side lidded till, two side by side drawers, shaped bracket foot base. Sulfur inlaid initials "MM" centered on front; unusually, no locking device ever used on this chest.

49.25 x 29.25 x 20.5 in.

Interior lid of till with script writing, possibly including initials "MM.''

Top with split; till lid with repair; drawers missing escutcheons; hinges moved and replaced; rear foot at right replaced; added strip of wood to one half across the back near base.
