Sioux Beaded Legging Band and Shirt Strip
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Early 20th century, with conforming color schemes in which identical red, yellow, pink, blue and green beads are set against a white ground, the shirt strip (3.25 x 36.5 in.) is backed with sheer printed fabric, whereas the legging band (1 x 21.25 in.) terminates in red silk on both ends.

Descended from Charles Green, early 20th century Indian agent and native of Okobojo, South Dakota. Charlie Green, a Spanish-American War veteran, worked for the government as an agent in various locations, including the Pacific Northwest. He died in Portland, Oregon in the 1950s.

The fabric backing the shirt strip has minor stains and is separating at one end; the legging band has three small areas of bead loss and fracturing to the silk.
