In 1907, Ranger presented another "Landscape with Willows" as his NA diploma presentation. The smaller painting, sold here, illustrates Ranger's tonalist talents and early Barbizon influences. Upon his death in 1916, Ranger left his estate to the National Academy with the request that his fund be used to purchase America paintings for American institutions.
