Percussion, rebored to .58 caliber, lockplate with eagle motif and stamped HARPERS / FERRY / 1851 behind the hammer, 33 in. barrel secured with two bands, bayonet lug to right, marked at breech with VP, eagle's head and inspector mark WW / P, the tang dated 1852, muzzle stamped "0 28," stepped rear sight, brass muzzle sight, walnut stock with steel trumpet head ramrod, brass mounts with the buttplate tang marked "K.20."

The brass patchbox is somewhat crudely engraved "Clinton Wahlberg Knoxville Illinois July 4th 1924." Wahlberg is buried in the Knoxville cemetery, his stone having the dates 1903-1939.

The barrel has been lightly cleaned in the past and retains some original finish; oxidation to ferrous elements; all brass has been cleaned; good condition.
