First half 19th century, pine, black paint over dry red, dove-tailed construction, applied molding to lid and base, pencil inscription to lid inside, "Son of John ( ? )Born ( ?) 1782 came to Bovina Delaware Co. NY 1800," another pencil date to lid "1845."
