Circa 1960s, bezel set an angle with two shells (23.55 x 26.50mm) having good luster and iridescence in a shaped heavy yellow gold mount, stamped 14KT and signed "Stix for Vogt."

A mid-century / modern sculptor and jewelry designer, Marguerite Salzer Stix was born in Vienna, Austria and arrived in New York in 1941. She became well known for her work as a sculptor, with many of her pieces exhibited in the major museums. Both she and her husband saw the beauty and artistry of sea shells, and in 1968 wrote The Shell: 500 Million Years of Inspired Design. In her jewelry, shells from the sea became her gemstones.
