Acquired by the consignor in Chapel Hill, NC.

The owner's name on the verso may be that of Mrs. Robert Worth Bingham. Mr. Bingham was born in Orange County, NC, attending both UNC-Chapel Hill and UVA before settling in Louisville, KY. In December 1916, Bingham married Mary Lily Kenan Flagler, also from NC and the widow of Standard Oil Company's cofounder, prominent Florida developer, and art collector, Henry Flagler.

The Galt House was a well-known hotel in downtown Louisville, KY, that closed its doors in 1919.

This watercolor showing Charleston's Rainbow Row, likely dates to circa 1915-1920, after the artist and her father published The Dwelling Houses of Charleston, South Carolina.

Born into a prominent Charleston family, Smith was a leading member of the Charleston Renaissance and the founding member of the Charleston Etcher's Club and the Southern States Art League.
