The sitter wears a civilian coat and a kepi. An old note in the case reads Silas Embry in Confederate uniform died in war never married." Embry enlisted on March 4, 1862 and served in Co. "I," "The Fulton Blues," 42nd Georgia Infantry and is shown as AWOL with no further record on April 20, 1863.
