Arty. whilst serving on the staff of General Doubleday, came particularly under my notice during Pope's retreat from Cedar Mountain. He is a brave and efficient officer, and was mentioned as such in my report...there is a vacancy in the Colonelcy of the Regiment to which he belongs, it gives me great pleasure to recommend him..."
