C., Chattanooga, Tennessee, November 27, 1863, one page, octavo, on lined notebook paper, reading, in part: "Officers and Soldiers of the Third Division, Fourth Army Corps - Army of the Cumberland: A Glorious Victory, under the providence of God, has crowned our arms...Your achievement in carrying the rugged, fortified heights of Missionary Ridge, displayed a gallantry and steadiness under fire, and produced results unparalleled in the annals of warfare. Your conduct was witnessed by many officers distinguished on other battle-fields. Their admiration and appreciation of your services are unbounded. I return you my most heartfelt thanks."
