From the Estate of Mrs. Camilla Hammond Smith Strange of Annandale Farm, Gordonsville, VA and Warrenton, VA Born in Washington, D.C., Mrs. Strange was a proud member of the Society of the Lees of Virginia. Like her mother and grandmother, she had a great knowledge and appreciation of antiques and enjoyed decorating with them throughout her home.

The original painting, now in the Wallace Collection, was commissioned in 1781 by the Prince of Wales (later George IV) following the end of his brief, yet notorious, affair with Mrs. Robinson.
