Partially printed passport in French Spanish, English and Dutch, one page (docketing likely on back), folio, September 14, 1805, New York, made out to "John D. Waterman, master or commander" of the 100-ton schooner Anna Margaret carrying cocoa and staves to the Spanish port of Malaga. Presented in a modern gilt and gesso frame, the document is flanked by images of Jefferson and Madison. President Jefferson signs Th Jefferson whereas then-Secretary of State Madison pens his full name.
