Victorian Berlin Needlework of George Washington, 1870

Worked in brightly colored wool and silk threads depicting George Washington after Gilbert Stuart's portrait, housed in original molded walnut frame gilt fillet, and with églomisé glass gilt decorated with name of maker and date, "Sophia Hartye 1870."
