New England Federal Inlaid Sideboard

Attributed to Connecticut, circa 1800, mahogany with mahogany veneers, white pine secondary, having a rectangular top, the banded inlay to the edge is highlighted by four dark and light wood line inlays, the case has two side by side long drawers (the left one with later fitting for silver) above a central recessed cabinet with two hinged doors flanked by two graduated drawers to the right and one deep drawer to the left, the whole raised on six square tapered legs with line inlay.

Note each drawer with high-grade book-matched figured veneer.

Tight shrinkage cracks to top; replaced pulls; drawer runners rebuilt; some drawer glides replaced; central bottom cabinet boards are replaced; legs have been cut at the base of the case but appear to be original. The legs have been reattached with later knee returns.
