Late 18th century, mixed woods, shaped upper crestrail above three pierced backsplats, chamfered straight arm supports, slip seat with later flat weave upholstery, straight legs with inside chamfer, on X stretcher base.

The Estate of the late Wade Anderson Gardner, Jr., Wilson, NC Mr. Gardner, Jr. was born on March 25, 1936 in Wilson, and was the son of the late Lela Smith Gardner and Wade Anderson Gardner. A lifelong educator, he was awarded The Order of the Long Leaf Pine in 2004 for his 30 years of exemplary service to the educational system of North Carolina.

Rare corner chair form, good pegged mortise and tenon joint construction with rose head nails to corner blocks.

Later upholstery; repairs and later nails at upper stile joints to continuous splat.
