Collection of Marguerite Kagan from Europe & Oyster Bay, New York

Gifted to the consignor pre 1987 from Eya E. Mbayo, a Sierra Leone ambassador who spent three years in Russia, where he likely acquired these two icons from either Moscow or Kiev. Mr. and Mrs. Kagan kept a lifelong friendship with Eya, who was best man at their wedding in 1966, and later the Kagans became god parents to Eya's children. Eya would continue his work as ambassador to the Vatican, Austria and France. This is the first time these icons have been offered since their discovery in Russia 30 years ago.

Panel slightly bowed; some paint loss and scratches; stable checks to the verso.
