Three Antique English School Maritime Paintings
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
The first a watercolor on paper by Edmund Patten (English, exh. 1838-1842), inscribed President Rother and titled American discharging Timber at a Wharf,
attractively matted and framed under glass, retaining a gallery label for Alice Dodge Berkeley of London (DOA 13.75 x 10.5 in.); the second a watercolor of a ship in full sail, monogrammed at lower right, matted and framed under glass (DOA 10.5 x 8.5 in.); and the third a pencil sketch by George Edwards Hering (1805-1879), retaining a label from Fry of London identifying this as a study at Arran, Scotland, matted and framed under glass (DOA 9.75 x 12.75 in.).
