Southern Federal Inlaid Mahogany Sideboard

Attributed to eastern North Carolina, circa 1800, high grade mahogany veneers, poplar and white pine secondary, rectangular top with vertically banded veneered edge, central upper drawer above two hinged cabinet doors each with a triple line oval inlay, each side with a small upper drawer above a hinged cabinet door, each door with a triple line oval inlay, the four stiles with line inlay the top forming a drop V and light and dark wood inlaid pinwheel, surmounted with an alternating matchstick light and dark wood capital, case bottom edge with light and dark wood inlaid border, raised on six square tapered legs, the front with line inlay terminating at inlaid cuff.

43 x 69 x 22.25 in.

Replaced pulls and hinges; drawer runners and guides rebuilt; each cabinet compartment with later interior wood lining to bottom and sides; top reset and with 1.5 inch rear edge strip; left front leg with break and repair; second left front leg with chip and loss to right rear edge; break and repair to left rear leg with later iron brace to rear.
