Wearing a dark slouch hat pinned to one side and a gray frock coat with regulation cuff and collar trim. The subject has a cavalry saber at the ready and offers posterity his fiercest warlike expression. The image is lightly tinted and has some spot gilt decoration. Presented in a full case.

Verbal provenance from the consignor is that this image comes from the Coleman family of Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Intact emulsion remarkably free of detractions; a clear image with excellent tonal contrasts; chips to the case, spine intact.
