The 39mm aluminum medallion depicts Apollo 8 astronauts Borman, Lovell, and Anders on the obverse above December 21-27, 1968, the reverse reads IN APPRECIATION FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE APOLLO SATURN PROJECT. THE APOLLO 8 CREW CARRIED METAL IN THIS MEDALLION ON MAN'S FIRST FLIGHT TO THE MOON; included are two packets of slides showing ground activities at Cape Kennedy during the respective launchings of Apollos 7 and 8; a roll of film titled In Sight of the Giant Steps; an un-developed black and white Kodak film cartridge; a packet of eleven official NASA 8x10 in. lunar surface photographs dated 1964.
