Identified Sixth Plate Daguerreotype of a Comely Young Woman
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
1840s, presented in a case behind a simple octagonal mat, the sitter is named in the following letter from Salt Lake City penned in 1912: "Dear Claude this picture is for my Godson when he grows up. It is his Great Grand Mother Hannah Anderson. You can probably fill in the dates of her birth & death which I have no record of. This picture was given me by one of our northern relatives I think or was among Mam ma's things I have forgotten which. I think your Claude looks something like this Grand Mother whom I have always heard was fair & good to look at - Harriett M. Weir."

From the Collection of a Gentleman, Florida.

Good tonal contrasts with blue haloing around the image; the case lid has separated.
